Winter in Aspen - The place to be

The Aspen winter season is in full swing. Lots of snow and more on the way. Whether you're hiking the bowl, drinking an espresso martini by the fireplace, or relaxing at the spa, it's time to immerse yourself in everything Aspen. EVENTS

Ski our World Famous Four Mountains of Aspen Snowmass
World-class skiing and snowboarding on Aspen Mountain, Aspen Highlands, Buttermilk, and Snowmass. Each of our four mountains is unique with plenty to offer to all level skiers and snowboarders. An exhilarating adventure is waiting for you! 
 
Aspen Gay Ski Week returns for its 46th consecutive year, January 15-22, 2023. Aspen Gay Ski Week is the premier LGBTQ+ winter event with a full schedule of events on-and-off the Aspen Snowmass mountains. 
 
Aspen’s annual “toast to winter” returns for its 72nd year January 12-15, 2023. The four-day celebration features on-mountain activities, snow sculptures, a torchlight descent down Aspen Mountain, fireworks, and more. Be sure to check out this eclectic weekend of festivities! 
 
When the lifts close at Snowmass, the village turns into a dazzling world of light and art. Experience interactive art and light displays, LED illuminated walkways, arches, and interactive LED installations. The Snowmass Luminescence runs from December 17 through April 16 from sunset to 9 pm daily. 
 
The X Games make their way to Aspen, Colorado for the 22nd consecutive year January 27-29, 2023. Top winter athletes will take the stage on Buttermilk mountain and compete in the biggest snow sport event of the year. X Games Aspen is free to attend and will have live coverage of the event on ESPN, ESPN2, and ABC.  
 
Aspen Snowmass welcomes the return of international ski racing this season with the Men’s World Cup on March 3-5 2023. Aspen hasn’t hosted the World Cup ski racing since the 2017 World Cup Finals on Aspen Mountain. The top men in the world will compete on America’s Downhill course on Aspen Mountain. Throughout the weekend there will be free outdoor concerts, events, ceremonies, and incredible skiing and riding across all four mountains.
 

NEW RESTAURANTS 

Madame Ushi
A Japanese steakhouse, bar, and nightclub operated by DJ Cedric Gervais and Wei Chen, chef de cuisine at Nakazawa Aspen, will open in the former 7908 space on December 28th. After dinner, Madame Ushi will morph into a nightclub called Gala Aspen. 
 
A Tex-Mex concept with Austin roots by McGuire Moorman Hospitality opened its doors in the summer of 2022 in the former Jimmy’s space. Fajitas, ceviche, margaritas, and other classics are on the menu and takeout is now available! 
 
The Aspen Art Museum Rooftop Cafe is now operated by The Farmer & Chef, a husband-and-wife team dedicated to localizing food systems one delicious plate at a time, with a new focus on genuinely local, organic food. Check out the new AAM exhibits and grab lunch or a glass of wine. 
 
Located in the former L’Hostaria space, Parc Aspen will open its doors on December 16th, 2022. This new restaurant will bring a locally sourced, modern farm-to-table concept to the Aspen dining scene and a bar menu. Owners Maryanne and Harley Sefton along with Executive Chef Mark Connell will offer three levels of dining: an affordably priced local’s bar, a contemporary fine dining room, and an experiential 12-person private dining space. 
 
Hailing from New York, Sant Ambreous will make its Aspen debut this winter at 520 East Hyman. An Italian Café and restaurant will offer refined Italian classics for breakfast through dinner.
 

ENTERTAINMENT

Ponyboy, one of Brooklyn’s top nightlife venues, is making its way to the W Aspen for a five-month winter residency. Creative cocktails, DJs, and dancing make this the perfect après ski destination. Ponyboy kicked off the Après season Thursday, December 15th. 
 
Kick off the winter season with the Aspen Art Museum Downhill Disco. Grab your disco, mountain chic attire and head to the AAM rooftop. Guests will be treated to champagne, cocktails, hor d'oeuvres, and most importantly-disco. Tickets for members are $250 and non-members $325 (tax-deductible). Entertainment includes music by Pamela Tick and Performances by Art of the Air. 
 
Gravity Haus is coming to Aspen! Steps from the Silver Queen Gondola near the base of Aspen Mountain, AspenHaus will bring 18,000 sq ft of amenity space to life on the northern edge of Wagner Park. AspenHaus will create a new space for people to gather, work, work out, socialize, and become a launching pad for adventures of all kinds. Amenities include; Unravel Coffee, a shared workspace, a hot tub, a cold plunge, a sauna, a workout space, and more!
